Starting The Hobby Of Loose Gemstone Collecting

A gemstone with an improper cut will not reflect light consistently over its entire surface. Tone, color saturation, and color hue will never be consistent.
Gemstone clarity is the next item to consider. When we talk of clarity it relates to the absence of flaws or blemishes inside the stone. The gemstone without flaws is obviously worth more. Gemstones are often listed according to their size since it is more uniform than carat weight. And if you travel to Canada you will find opal in the Okanagan, British Columbia or amethyst near Thunder Bay, Ontario and even amethyst from Nova Scotia.
